Once again, UWUA Local 304 members have stepped up and adopted SIX (6) local children from the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program!
Bob Day, the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Coordinator (and an angel in his own right), was quick to call Local 304 when he realized that the applications for assistance would out-pace last year’s record setting amount of needy applicants.
The prompt and timely request, as well as the quick and decisive action of our membership in approving our participation, allowed us to take on the largest amount of Angels in our 4th consecutive year of supporting the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree, and help address the great need that still exists in our local community.
It’s more than just buying gifts, and all the mechanical and logistical chores of putting it all together; it’s about helping a struggling family , and especially the children of these households, believe in the goodness of the people of their community and restore faith in their fellow Mountaineers.
From UWUA Local 304, we wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
