This month’s meeting was the last regularly scheduled monthly meeting for the year. We had a good turn out and covered many topics. We also talked about our annual support of the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program. At the end of the meeting we got a positive update on one of our members who had received some hard news recently.
As per our usual agenda, we started the meeting talking about the things that have been going on around the plant, and how they have affected us. There wasn’t much to bring up this time, but we did discuss bringing back the Labor/Management Meetings. The company and the union think this could be a great communication tool and we hope it helps with some of the issues between the two sides. The union believes this a good idea, as long as the meetings are productive.
Towards the end of the meeting we discussed supporting the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree once again. This will be a donation from the union to go to ensuring a nice Christmas to local kids from a family whom would otherwise go without. We also talked about Justin Hutson’s son, Joseph, and decided to help the family with a donation from the union. There are also two spaghetti dinners being held to benefit the family in this time of need. One dinner is being held at the Morgantown Elks Lodge on December 1st, 2017 and starts at 1730. Tickets are $20. The other dinner is being held at East Fairmont Middle School on December 3rd, 2017 and starts at 1100. Tickets are $10.
For those unaware of Joseph Hutson’ condition, there was a tumor found on his brain. The family has gone to Boston Mass. to receive treatment for Joseph who is 12 years old. At last report as of this writing, the doctors were able to remove 90% of the tumor and when tested it was determined to be benign. They plan on doing more tests and removing the rest of the tumor soon. Please keep Justin, Joseph and their family in your thoughts and prayers.
The next Monthly Meeting will be held at Brickside Bar and Grill on January 9th, 2018. There is no meeting in December.
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and I hope to see you next year at our next meeting.
